Sophia Jennings is a writer and director based in Los Angeles. She is the Director of Story at MakeMake, a multidisciplinary studio led by Angus Wall and Sasha Markova.
Sophia’s short films have played at the BFI London Film Festival, Rome International Film Festival, British Shorts Berlin, and Manchester International Film Festival. Her scripts have placed in the Hollyshorts Film Festival, and Thousand Films Writing Competition hosted by the Edinburgh TV Festival.
In 2024, she wrote and produced the short film PIGS (dir. Julia Jackman), now streaming on BritBox.
Sophia is the former writer’s assistant to Justin Britt-Gibson, whom she assisted on Damon Lindelof’s STAR WARS feature at Lucasfilm. She previously worked for Jameela Jamil, producing interviews for Meta, YouTube, and Earwolf Podcast Studios. Sophia’s brand work includes projects for Victoria’s Secret, Meta, Character.AI, Runway, The Period Company, and DIOR.
As an essayist and interviewer, Sophia’s writing appears in Rolling Stone, ESQUIRE, and literary journal, Hobart Pulp. She has been a part of public readings at spaces such as Stories Bookstore & Cafe and Frank News in Los Angeles.
In 2024, Sophia got to interview Cher for Harper’s Bazaar.
In 2025, Sophia’s Substack was listed as the #12 Rising Literary publication on the platform.
She is currently developing new projects with partners in the US and UK.
