Sophia Jennings (b. San Francisco, California) is an essayist, screenwriter, and producer based in Los Angeles.

Sophia began her career interviewing artists for MTV.com and Rolling Stone before working in scripted development for a joint-venture tv/film production company founded by music manager Scooter Braun and British brand agency, BBH. Sophia later ran digital content for actor Jameela Jamil, before leaving to focus on her own writing.

In 2022, Sophia began working as a writer’s assistant to screenwriter Justin Britt-Gibson (Counterpart) under his HBO overall deal. She assisted Britt-Gibson on Damon Lindelof’s Unt. Star Wars feature at Lucasfilm. The following year, Sophia wrote and produced Pigs (dir. Julia Jackman), a short film starring Olivia Williams (The Crown, Rushmore) and Bessie Carter (Bridgerton). Produced by Backscatter Productions and Dash Pictures, Pigs premiered at the 2024 BFI London Film Festival. Director’s Notes described the film as, “a strange and darkly comic dinner party with unexpected guests, wild hairstyles, and plenty of tension.”

To date, Sophia’s pilots and feature scripts have placed in competitions such as the Hollyshorts Film Festival, Thousand Films Writing Competition (Sid Gentle Films x Edinburgh TV Festival x National Film & Television School), Female Voices Rock, and the Slick Films Fund.

Sophia is a graduate of Wesleyan University and a former member of the Soho Theatre Young Company for comedy writers in London.
