Sophia Jennings (b. San Francisco, CA) is a writer and director based in Los Angeles. She is the Director of Story at MakeMake, a multidisciplinary studio founded by Oscar and Emmy-award winner Angus Wall (THE SOCIAL NETWORK).

Most recently, Sophia directed the music video for “Red Rose,” the first single off Jean-Luc Eldenwood’s new album “The Beach”, produced by the renowned Jonathan Rado (Miley Cyrus, Weyes Blood). Her 2025 short film SPARKS (co-written /dir. with Jake Davies) stars Phia Saban (HOUSE OF THE DRAGON) and Fionn Whitehead (DUNKIRK).

In 2024, Sophia wrote and produced the short film PIGS (dir. Julia Jackman) which premiered at the BFI London Film Festival before playing at Rome International Film Festival, Manchester International Film Festival, and British Shorts Berlin. The film was acquired by BritBox in 2025.

In publishing, Sophia’s writing appears in Rolling Stone, ESQUIRE, Harper’s BAZAAR, and literary journal, Hobart Pulp. In 2025, Sophia’s Substack was listed as the #12 Rising Literary publication on the platform.

Previously, Sophia worked as a writer’s assistant to Justin Britt-Gibson on Damon Lindelof’s UNT. STAR WARS FEATURE at Lucasfilm. She began her career in development at The Creative Studio, a production company founded by BBH and Scooter Braun. 

Sophia is the former Head of Content for Jameela Jamil’s I Weigh media company, where she worked on partnerships with Meta (UK), YouTube, and Earwolf Studios. Brand work includes projects for DIOR, Victoria's Secret, Masterclass, Meta, Runway, Character.AI, and Dove.
